An Odessa-based trucking company returned ₴7.7 million in unpaid VAT to the budget

One of the largest trucking companies, headquartered in Odesa, has returned 7.7 million hryvnias in unpaid VAT to the state budget. The company also donated an additional 500,000 hryvnias to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The company provides urban, suburban, and intercity passenger transportation services.

Detectives from the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine determined that the company’s director had unjustifiably claimed a VAT tax credit.

The company’s tax returns included transactions for the purchase of transportation services, diesel fuel, and other goods that did not actually take place.

The total value of these transactions exceeded 38.6 million hryvnias. As a result, the state budget lost more than 7.7 million hryvnias in value-added tax revenue.

The company’s CEO was notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—evasion of taxes, fees (mandatory payments).

During the pre-trial investigation, the 7.7 million hryvnias in unpaid taxes were fully reimbursed to the state budget.

In addition, the individual involved in the case transferred 500,000 UAH to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

After the losses incurred by the state were reimbursed, a motion was filed with the court to exempt the CEO from criminal liability.

This was reported by the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine.
