The Office of the Prosecutor General has opened a criminal investigation into the attempted assassination of Yermolayev in Monaco

The Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine has confirmed the opening of a criminal investigation into the attempted murder of businessman Vadym Yermolaev in Monaco, in which his common-law wife and 13-year-old son were also injured.

“Information has been entered into the Unified Register of Pretrial Investigations under Part 2 of Article 15, subparagraphs 1, 5, and 11 of Part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—a completed attempted murder of two or more persons, committed in a manner dangerous to the lives of many people, on someone’s orders,” she reported.

On June 30, an explosion occurred in a residential building in Monaco, injuring Vadym Yermolayev, his common-law wife, and their 13-year-old son, who were in the apartment at the time. According to media reports, all three were hospitalized, with Yermolayev and his partner’s condition described as serious.

It later emerged that the suspect had left Monaco and fled to France. Meanwhile, the Monaco prosecutor’s office classified the incident as attempted murder rather than a terrorist act.

Earlier, media outlets reported on a possible connection between Vadim Yermolaev’s family and international networks of fraudulent call centers in Dnipro. These involve telephone fraud schemes which, according to investigations in various countries, operated under the guise of investment platforms and support services. There is currently no official confirmation of the businessman’s involvement in these schemes.

Vadym Yermolayev is the founder of the Alef Corporation and one of Ukraine’s most prominent developers and industrialists. His business interests span real estate, the production of construction materials, the agricultural sector, mineral extraction, logistics, and the alcohol industry.

In 2019, Yermolayev renounced his Ukrainian citizenship and obtained Cypriot citizenship. Additionally, according to media reports, he likely holds Israeli citizenship.

This was reported by Mariana Gayovska-Kovbasyuk, head of the Information Policy and Communications Department at the Office of the Prosecutor General.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ukrainian Embassy in France are working to identify the three victims of the high-profile explosion in Monaco, who, according to media reports, are Ukrainian businessman Vadym Yermolayev—who is subject to sanctions—and his relatives.
