Retirees in Ukraine will be able to receive a monthly supplement of up to 900 hryvnias
Certain categories of Ukrainian pensioners are entitled to a monthly pension supplement for special services to Ukraine. In 2026, the amount ranges from 596.85 to 908.25 hryvnia, depending on the recipient’s category.
The supplement is calculated based on the subsistence minimum for persons who have lost their ability to work and ranges from 23% to 35% of that figure.
In 2026, the payment amounts to:
- minimum – 596.85 hryvnia per month;
- maximum – 908.25 hryvnia per month.
The specific amount depends on the pensioner’s category and their special merits to the state.
The following are eligible for a special supplement:
- war veterans awarded for personal bravery;
- outstanding athletes, including Olympic, Paralympic, and Deaflympic champions, as well as other categories specified by law;
- cosmonauts;
- persons awarded state honors;
- citizens who hold honorary titles or have rendered other special services to Ukraine.
The supplement is paid monthly along with the basic pension.
In addition to the allowance for special merits, some retirees are entitled to a supplement for excess insurance coverage.
It is calculated:
- to men—for service exceeding 35 years;
- women—for more than 30 years of service.
For each additional year of insurance service, a pensioner receives 25.95 hryvnias. If the excess service period is 20 years, the monthly supplement will amount to 519 hryvnias.
Ukraine also has a philanthropic pension mechanism that allows anyone to transfer funds to a specific pensioner through the Pension Fund’s portal.
In this case, 70% of the amount goes to the pensioner, while 30% remains with the Pension Fund to finance the pension system.
Such voluntary transfers are not taxed and do not affect the recipient’s eligibility for a housing subsidy.
This was reported by the Pension Fund of Ukraine.
New rules for pension eligibility took effect in Ukraine on August 2. In particular, the document submission process will be simplified, and certain periods of employment will be counted toward the insurance record even in cases where the employer did not pay the unified social contribution.
