Five children returned from occupied territories to Ukraine-controlled Kherson region

Five children who had been in temporarily occupied territories have successfully returned to government-controlled areas of Ukraine as part of the presidential initiative Bring Kids Back UA.

The latest success of the humanitarian mission was reported by the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin.

The rescue operation was carried out thanks to coordinated efforts between the state and the charitable organisation Save Ukraine.

According to him, the return of each child required careful preparation due to the difficult security conditions under occupation.

“Among them are four children deprived of parental care, aged between 9 and 16, as well as one young adult from among those deprived of parental care,” he wrote on Telegram.

Each evacuation story reflects prolonged exposure to danger.

The regional head paid particular attention to the fate of the youngest member of the group, whose childhood was spent on the front line.

“A nine-year-old boy lived under constant shelling for four years, as his family had no opportunity to leave the occupied village,” the official noted.

In addition, a young woman who had long awaited the opportunity to leave the occupied territories has returned home.

“Another girl, upon reaching adulthood, was finally able to leave the occupation,” Oleksandr Prokudin added, commenting on the difficulties faced by young people trying to leave.

It should be noted that more than 19,000 Ukrainian children have been taken to Russia.

It was also reported that Russia is militarising children in the occupied territories.
