Weather Forecast for April 20: A cold snap with rain has hit Ukraine
Monday, April 20, 2026, brought a noticeable drop in temperature and rainy weather to Ukraine.
According to data from the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, the country has been affected by moist air masses, resulting in cloudy skies and precipitation in most regions.
The heaviest rains today are being observed on the Right Bank, where significant precipitation has been recorded in some areas.
It is raining less in the northern regions, while the eastern part of the country and parts of the southern regions remain without significant precipitation throughout the day.
“During the day, the Right Bank will see moderate, and in some places heavy, rain; in the northern regions, light rain in some places. The rest of the territory will remain dry,” experts from the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center note in their operational forecast.
Daytime temperatures will range between +5° and +10°, which is a significant drop compared to previous days. It will be slightly warmer only in Zakarpattia and the southern regions, where temperatures will remain between +11° and +16°.
Nighttime frosts, which have already been recorded on the ground in many regions, pose a particular danger.
Forecasters warn that the cold air mass will linger in the region for at least a week, which could negatively impact crop growth.
Cool weather also prevails today in the capital and the Kyiv region. Daytime temperatures in Kyiv do not exceed +8...10°, and a north wind blowing at 5–10 m/s adds to the chill, despite sunny spells.
On Sunday, April 19, dry weather will prevail across Ukraine, though rain is expected in the east and southeast.
After a cold winter, Ukrainians are looking forward to spring warmth, but April will bring not only sunshine but also weather “swings.”
