Police seized more than 30 grenades from a resident of Berezan
In the Brovary District of the Kyiv Region, law enforcement officers uncovered and detained a 27-year-old man who had set up a cache of illegal ammunition in his own home.
This was reported by the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Kyiv region.
The channels through which the weapons were illegally obtained are currently being investigated. During a search authorized by a court order at the suspect’s home in the city of Berezan, operatives and investigators discovered a significant arsenal of explosive devices. Law enforcement officers seized 26 casings of RGO fragmentation grenades, 5 casings of F-1 grenades, as well as 25 standardized remote-action fuses (UDZ) intended for use in combat ammunition. All seized items have been sent for expert analysis.
Under the procedural guidance of the Brovary District Prosecutor’s Office, investigators officially charged the detainee with illegal handling of weapons and ammunition under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The suspect was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and taken to a temporary detention facility. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement officials are determining the purpose of storing the explosives.
