In the Kharkiv region, a traitor was sentenced to 15 years in prison for arson and coordinating Russian strikes

In the Kharkiv region, a court found a resident of the Kupianskyi district guilty of treason and attempting to set fire to a Ukrainian Armed Forces vehicle. According to the prosecutor’s office, the man attempted to burn military vehicles and coordinated Russian strikes on the Kupiansk district, allegedly “in revenge for Kursk.” The court sentenced him to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.

This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.

Prosecutors proved that in the spring of 2024, the administrator of a pro-Russian Telegram channel from Kivsharivka made contact with representatives of the Russian Federation, including a special services officer and military personnel from the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Following their instructions, the man collected data on the locations of Ukrainian troops and military equipment in the Kupiansk region, transmitted coordinates and screenshots of maps, and urged others to report the locations of the Defense Forces. The occupiers used the information received to adjust their strikes, in particular using FPV drones.

Later, the defendant independently offered his handler money to burn a military vehicle. In August 2024, he prepared a flammable mixture, doused the vehicle, and left the inscription “FOR GUEVO” (a village in the Kursk region) on it. However, he was unable to carry out the crime—the owner spotted the arsonist from the balcony, and he fled.

After that, the man went into hiding with relatives, but in the fall of 2024, he was apprehended. In court, he did not admit guilt, but the court agreed with the prosecution’s arguments and handed down a sentence.
