Kryvyi Rih has received new generators for its critical infrastructure

Kryvyi Rih has received an additional 31 generators to support critical infrastructure. The new equipment will help the city maintain the operation of water supply systems, heating networks, and public utilities in the event of emergencies or power outages. This was announced by the head of the City Defense Council, Oleksandr Vilkul.

Kryvyi Rih continues to strengthen its energy resilience. The city has received another 31 modern diesel generators with capacities ranging from 17 to 440 kW. This was announced by the head of the City Defense Council, Oleksandr Vilkul. According to him, the new equipment will serve as an additional reserve for critical infrastructure.

This primarily concerns water supply, heating, sewage systems, and the operation of municipal utilities. The generators will help maintain stable system operation even during emergency power outages or other emergencies. City officials noted that all critical infrastructure facilities in Kryvyi Rih are now 100% equipped with generators. In total, there are over 2,000 units in the city.

Most of the equipment was purchased using the city budget. At the same time, the city continues to replenish its reserve, as generators have a limited lifespan and require replacement after prolonged use.

Kryvyi Rih received a new batch of equipment as part of its cooperation with the “Partnership for a Strong Ukraine” Foundation. The project is being implemented with the support of the governments of the United Kingdom, Estonia, Canada, Norway, Finland, Switzerland, and Sweden. “This equipment will provide additional backup power for water and heat supply facilities, wastewater treatment, and the stable operation of the city’s utility services in the event of emergency outages or other challenges,” Vilkul noted.

He also emphasized that for the city, this is not only technical assistance but also a sign of support from international partners. “These generators are not just about technical re-equipment but also about partnership and trust in our city,” he stated.

In Kryvyi Rih, following the Russian Federation’s massive attacks on the energy sector, work on backup power systems continues actively. The city is gradually building up additional equipment reserves to be prepared for any future scenarios.

Particular attention is being paid to the utilities sector—water, heat, and hospital operations. Officials say the main task now is to prevent critical systems from shutting down, even under the most difficult conditions.

As a reminder, Russia attacked a substation in the Kramatorsk district with an FPV drone.

In the Zolochiv community of the Kharkiv region, a Russian drone attacked the Hryhorii Skovoroda National Literary and Memorial Museum.
