Police identified the off-road drivers who were driving along the bed of a mountain river in Zakarpattia
Law enforcement officials have identified the drivers of the SUVs who, on Wednesday, July 8, drove through the bed of the Lazeshchyna River in the Rakhiv District of Zakarpattia Oblast. The offenders are expected to face administrative charges.
The incident gained attention after Istvan Tsap, a resident of Transcarpathia, posted a video on social media showing a group of off-roaders in four SUVs driving through the bed of a mountain river in the Kozmeshchik tract of the Yasinya community. He also posted photos showing the vehicles’ license plates.
After the video surfaced, the head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration, Myroslav Biletsky, called the drivers’ actions unacceptable and instructed the relevant authorities to identify those involved in the incident and hold them accountable.
The police reported that all the offenders have already been identified. According to Transcarpathian Police Spokesperson Hanna Dan, they are residents of other regions of Ukraine. Information about them has been forwarded to law enforcement agencies in their places of residence to initiate administrative proceedings.
Law enforcement officials clarified that this pertains specifically to administrative liability, since the Lazeshchyna River is not part of the nature reserve fund.
