A Kyivzelenbud official is suspected of embezzling more than 1.1 million hryvnias during the renovation of a public square
The deputy head of one of the departments of the “Kyivzelenbud” Municipal Enterprise has been notified of suspicion of embezzlement of budget funds allocated for the major renovation of the park on Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky Street in the Dnipro District of the capital.
The municipal association signed the relevant contract with a private company in November 2024. Under the procedural guidance of the Dnipro District Prosecutor’s Office of Kyiv, the official’s actions were classified under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The investigation established that the suspect signed acceptance certificates and cost estimates for the construction work, fully aware that the prices for construction materials were significantly inflated. As a result of these actions, the budget overpaid more than 1.1 million hryvnias for sand, gravel, and stone. The penalty under this article provides for imprisonment for a term of seven to twelve years, along with confiscation of property and disqualification from holding certain positions. The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators from the Dnipro Police Department with operational support from the Main Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in Kyiv and the Kyiv region, according to the press service of the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
In Kyiv, a businessman and an official from “Kyivzelenbud” have been charged with causing losses during repairs in Poznyaki Park.
“Kyivzelenbud” renovated the paths in the capital’s Hydropark, resulting in losses of 200,000 UAH. The case against the head of the contracting organization has been referred to court.
