G7 embassies discussed winter preparations with Energoatom
The embassies of the G7 countries met with the Supervisory Board of NAEK “Energoatom” to discuss the company’s preparations for the fall and winter and corporate governance issues.
Energoatom’s Supervisory Board had previously also addressed the issue of the company’s preparations for winter.
The meeting with G7 representatives took place amid heightened risks to the Ukrainian energy system ahead of the heating season.
“We reaffirmed our strong support for the Board and welcomed the significant progress made in governance and anti-corruption measures with the government’s support,” the Telegram channel of the French chairmanship of the G7 Ambassadors’ Support Group in Ukraine reported on Monday.
As previously reported, on August 28, the supervisory board of NAEK “Energoatom” expressed concern and raised serious doubts about procedural fairness and the company’s ability to fulfill its governance and anti-corruption functions. The supervisory board’s statement is posted on Energoatom’s website and relates to decisions by the Holosiivskyi District Court of Kyiv regarding an internal investigation and the suspension of company employee Dmytro Ilchuk following a request from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) regarding company employee Dmytro Ilchuk.
Energoatom has announced an international competition for the position of chairman of the board.
Earlier, NAEK “Energoatom” officially received a license to operate a nuclear facility. On May 28, the company was granted a license to operate the Centralized Spent Fuel Storage Facility (CSFSF), allowing it to begin full-scale operations in accordance with safety requirements.
NAEK “Energoatom” reported that the midpoint of the scheduled maintenance campaign at Ukrainian nuclear power plants is approaching.
