Law enforcement officials uncovered fraud at the Drohobych District State Administration
In the Lviv region, law enforcement officials have notified three former employees of one of the departments of the Drohobych District State Administration that they are under suspicion.
The women are suspected of organizing a large-scale illegal scheme through which funds were systematically paid out of the state budget to individuals who had no legal right to receive them.
According to the official investigation, two former officials of the state agency unjustifiably awarded state financial assistance to their close relatives and acquaintances.
To ensure the smooth operation of the scheme and the rapid processing of certain documents, they enlisted the help of a specialist from the same department.
The perpetrators entered false information into official documents, claiming there were legal grounds for receiving financial support from the state.
The organizers of the scheme processed payments for childbirth, assistance for low-income families, and funds for the care of people with disabilities.
In reality, none of these recipients were eligible for state funds, yet they were deliberately included in the general registry alongside citizens who were legally receiving social assistance.
The falsified documents were then submitted to the State Treasury, which used them as the basis for processing the payments.
Prosecutors determined that the illegal payments were made over a four-year period—from January 2020 to March 2024.
During this time, 47 unauthorized individuals illegally received state funds, and the total amount of damage caused to the budget amounts to nearly 41 million hryvnias.
Law enforcement officials are currently preparing a civil lawsuit to recover the full amount of financial damages caused to the state from the suspects.
