Termination of the agreement with Slovakia will not affect Ukraine’s energy system — Ukrenergo
Ukrenergo reports that a possible early termination of the mutual emergency assistance agreement with the Slovak grid operator SEPS will not affect the stability of Ukraine’s energy system. The operator assures that the Ukrainian energy system continues to function without interruption and is prepared for any changes in cooperation with foreign partners.
This was reported by Ukrenergo.
Ukrenergo noted that emergency support from the Slovak side was unsystematic and provided in very limited volumes. The last time the Slovak transmission system operator provided emergency assistance at the request of NEK Ukrenergo was on January 23.
The company also added that no official documents regarding the intention to terminate the current bilateral agreement between SEPS and Ukrenergo on mutual emergency assistance have been received from the Slovak side.
“We emphasize that the Agreement on Providing/Receiving Emergency Assistance is not related to commercial electricity exchanges. Currently, electricity imports from Slovakia are carried out without any restrictions — in volumes determined by the results of auctions for the allocation of cross-border transmission capacity,” Ukrenergo stressed.
It should be recalled that Kyiv’s energy system has been stabilized, and the capital is returning to planned schedules.
It should also be recalled how electricity will be turned off in Ukraine on February 8, 2026.
Additionally, following Russian shelling, Lviv region remained without power for more than 10 hours.
