Prosecutors may be prohibited from receiving both a salary and a pension at the same time
The Verkhovna Rada’s Conciliation Council supported the inclusion of Bill No. 12278 on the agenda. The bill stipulates that prosecutors will be eligible to receive a pension based on years of service only after they have left the prosecutor’s office.
The bill also provides for the recalculation of pensions for prosecutors and law enforcement officers according to the general indexation mechanism—taking into account growth in household income and consumer prices.
Currently, employees of the prosecutor’s office can receive both a salary and a pension for years of service at the same time. Initiative No. 12278 aims to end this practice.
According to the bill’s summary on the Parliament’s website, the document was included on the agenda for the session on September 1, 2026.
This was announced by Danylo Getmantsev, chairman of the Verkhovna Rada’s Finance Committee.
The Rada will place the dismissal of Prosecutor General Kravchenko at the top of Tuesday’s agenda.
Kravchenko issued a notice of suspicion against NABU Director Kryvonos.
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office have refuted statements by Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko regarding alleged charges against NABU Director Semen Kryvonos and proposals to grant him immunity.
NABU Director Semen Kryvonos does not believe there is a conflict between the Bureau and the SBU, though on August 10 he spoke out about illegal actions targeting NABU employees. According to him, detectives are being systematically monitored, and law enforcement officials are attempting to obtain information about the progress of investigations and planned investigative actions.
