Prosecutors are investigating more than 6,000 cases involving crimes committed by the Russian Federation against minors
Ukrainian law enforcement agencies are investigating more than 6,000 criminal cases involving crimes against children and violations of child protection laws committed as a result of Russian aggression.
According to the prosecutor’s office, 234 Russian military personnel and other individuals involved have already been notified of the charges against them.
Indictments against 108 suspects have been filed with the court, and verdicts have already been handed down in a number of cases.
The agency emphasized that efforts to identify those responsible are ongoing.
“Charges have been filed against 234 Russian military personnel and other individuals involved. Indictments against 108 individuals have been sent to court. Sentences have already been handed down. But this is not enough. Because our task is to identify everyone. Everyone who pressed the button to launch a missile. Everyone who gave the order. Everyone who planned these strikes and reported on their execution. There is no statute of limitations for such crimes,” the Office of the Prosecutor General noted.
According to law enforcement, since the start of the full-scale invasion, Russia has killed 707 Ukrainian children, and another 2,548 children have been injured to varying degrees.
The Office of the Prosecutor General emphasized that honoring the memory of the children who died and holding the perpetrators accountable remain among the state’s key priorities.
“June 4 is a day of remembrance. And a day to remind Russia: every Ukrainian child killed has a name. And every Russian criminal involved in their death also has a name. It is our duty to ensure that a verdict stands between these two names,” the prosecutor’s office emphasized.
Ukrainian investigators and prosecutors continue to document war crimes against children, gathering evidence to hold accountable not only the direct perpetrators but also the commanders and officials who issued the criminal orders.
The prosecutor’s office emphasizes that war crimes against children have no statute of limitations, and all those involved must face trial sooner or later.
This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General on the occasion of the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression.
On the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy released data on the losses among the youngest Ukrainians since the start of the full-scale invasion. According to him, Russia has already killed at least 707 children.
As a reminder, June 4 is observed in Ukraine as a Day of Remembrance for children who died as a result of the Russian Federation’s armed aggression against Ukraine.
