Kherson Defense Council expands mandatory evacuation zone
The Defense Council of Kherson region has decided to expand the zone of mandatory evacuation for families with children in the city due to increased Russian shelling.
According to Yaroslav Shanko, head of the Kherson Military-Civilian Administration, the new zone includes the Dnipro District — from Popovycha Street to 1st Skhidna Street and from Novozavodska Street to Perekopska Street.
Mandatory evacuation is also being considered for families with children in the settlements of Priozerne and Komyshany (including Nyzhnia Street and adjacent lanes to the Dnipro River), as well as in Kherson — Andriy Orlov Street, Hretska Street, Soborna Street, and all nearby lower streets and lanes.
At the meeting, officials discussed how to avoid legal violations during the evacuation of children in cases where parents or guardians refuse to relocate to safer areas.
Earlier, in Donetsk region, mandatory evacuation of children with parents was introduced in 19 settlements.
Previously, the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine reported the start of forced evacuation of children with parents from dangerous areas of Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions.
The ministry also stated that in several settlements of Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia regions, mandatory evacuation of children with parents or legal guardians has been approved.
