Russia Is Already Prepared for a Possible Attack on the EU, Says Budanov
Russia has already prepared for a possible military conflict with European Union countries, although this does not mean that a decision to attack has already been made.
Previously, the Russian leadership planned to first conclude hostilities against Ukraine and only then consider other military scenarios. However, according to his assessment, these plans have now changed.
“Previously, they made a clear distinction that hostilities here had to be concluded first, and only then… But now the plans are being adjusted slightly, so they are ready,” Budanov said.
At the same time, he did not specify any concrete dates when Russia might resort to aggression against EU countries.
According to the head of Ukrainian military intelligence, Russian strategic documents called for achieving combat readiness by early 2027, but these plans are subject to change.
“In all their documents, they were supposed to be ready for combat operations by early 2027, but again, all plans are subject to change. After all, there isn’t much time left until early 2027,” he noted.
At the same time, Budanov emphasized that this refers specifically to achieving the necessary level of readiness, and not to a political decision that has already been made regarding a possible attack on European Union countries.
Kirill Budanov, head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, made these remarks in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
As a reminder, a new phase of tension may arise in relations between Ukraine and Poland in the coming days. This was stated by Kirill Budanov, head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, while commenting on the situation on the eve of the anniversary of the Volhynia tragedy.
Budanov also stated that Belarus’s self-proclaimed president, Alexander Lukashenko, has taken the signals sent by the Ukrainian authorities seriously. According to him, Minsk is currently not interested in a direct military confrontation with Ukraine.
