Sadovyi proposed a new deferral model for men
Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi spoke on the issue of mobilization and citizens’ economic activity. According to him, men who are not serving in the military often become a financial burden on their families. He proposed introducing a mechanism for a six-month guaranteed deferment, which would allow citizens to work legally before a possible call-up to the military.
The mayor of Lviv made this statement during his appearance on the “Zakhid Holovne” broadcast.
Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi expressed the view that some Ukrainian men who are hiding at home out of fear of mobilization are creating financial and psychological difficulties for their families. To solve this problem, the mayor proposed introducing a guaranteed temporary deferment from conscription for them.
According to Andriy Sadovyi, the prolonged confinement of conscripts within their homes due to their reluctance to meet with representatives of the Territorial Centers for Recruitment and Social Support (TCRS) negatively affects the atmosphere within families. Men are losing their income and the ability to provide for their loved ones.
“Some men become a burden on their families due to their fear of the TSCs and staying at home,” emphasized the mayor of Lviv.
In order to bring citizens out of the “shadows” while simultaneously assisting the Ukrainian Defense Forces, Sadovyi proposed a compromise initiative. He suggests granting men a fixed period of time to adapt—that is, a six-month deferment from mobilization. During these six months, men will have the opportunity to legally find employment, financially support their families, and complete urgent civilian matters. After this period ends, these citizens are expected to join the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in an orderly and informed manner.
According to the mayor, this approach will help reduce social tension, support the country’s economy through legal employment, and ensure a planned and higher-quality replenishment of the Ukrainian military.
