The Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) and the National Agency for Corruption Prevention (NACP) want to seize assets worth nearly 9 million hryvnias from a former official of the Rivne Customs Office

The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, in conjunction with the National Agency for Corruption Prevention (NAZK), has filed a lawsuit seeking to have the assets of Vitaliy Sobchuk, the former acting head of the Rivne Customs Office, declared unjustified.

The assets in question include a 192.2-square-meter residential house in Rivne with a land plot, an apartment, a 2019 Volkswagen Touareg, as well as half of a vacation home on the shore of the Khrinnytske Reservoir and the proceeds from its sale.

Although some of the property, with a minimum value of over 10.5 million hryvnias, was registered in the names of the official’s mother and mother-in-law, the customs official himself was the one who actually controlled it. A financial analysis confirmed that the official and his family did not have legal income sufficient to purchase these assets, which totaled 8,957,787 hryvnias. In addition, materials from the State Bureau of Investigation (DBR) indicate that between 2020 and 2025, Sobchuk systematically manipulated real estate and vehicle prices—buying at below-market prices and selling at market prices to launder illicit funds. The court has already seized this property to prevent its sale.

This was reported by the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office and the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption.

Serhiy Hrynchyshyn, the former head of a department at the Odesa Customs Office, resigned from his position and declared over $240,000 in cash amid a civil forfeiture lawsuit.

The former deputy head of the Ternopil Regional State Administration had his property confiscated and was sentenced to 8 years in prison.
