Zelenskyy showed Trump a photo of the damaged Lavra – Reuters
During a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump at the G7 summit, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy showed photographs of the damage caused by the Russian attack on the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. This was reported to Reuters by unnamed European diplomats.
According to one of the agency’s sources, Trump expressed disapproval of the Russian strike on the historic shrine.
Another diplomat noted that, from a psychological standpoint, Zelenskyy’s decision to show the U.S. president photos of the destruction was a wise move.
The Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra is one of Ukraine’s oldest Orthodox shrines, with a history spanning more than a thousand years. The complex is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is considered an important monument of Ukraine’s spiritual and cultural heritage.
