The SBU has announced new charges against Baskov for promoting war
Russian singer Nikolai Baskov has been charged with a new offense for supporting and promoting the war against Ukraine.
This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine and the Office of the Prosecutor General.
According to the investigation, the artist has publicly supported the aggression against Ukraine since 2014, and intensified his propaganda activities after the start of the full-scale invasion.
In particular, he disseminated relevant narratives through Russian TV channels, social media, concerts, and interviews, and publicly justified the war.
It has also been established that Baskov financially supported Russian military personnel, specifically paying rewards for the destruction of Ukrainian military equipment.
Additionally, he visited the temporarily occupied territories and performed concerts there in support of the occupiers.
He faces charges under several articles, including calls to alter Ukraine’s borders, financing such actions, and justifying armed aggression.
If found guilty, the singer faces a lengthy prison sentence.
The Counterintelligence Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine detained another agent of Russia’s GRU in Rivne.
Earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine detained a Russian agent in the Kharkiv region who was collecting data for missile and bomb strikes on Ukrainian military positions in the Kupiansk direction.
In addition, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) detained a Russian agent who, under the guise of fulfilling defense contracts, was coordinating airstrikes on Kyiv.
