The SBU and the State Bureau of Investigation have detained a former railway worker who collaborated with the occupiers in Kherson
Officers from the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the State Bureau of Investigation (DBR) have detained a former employee of the paramilitary security unit at a regional branch of Ukrzaliznytsia, who is suspected of collaborating with Russian occupiers during the capture of Kherson. According to the investigation, he participated in guarding enemy railway convoys.
“The suspect guarded Russian military trains that were transporting weapons, ammunition, and supplies for Russian troops on the front lines. After the liberation of Kherson, Russian occupation forces abandoned their accomplice in the city and fled to the left bank of the region. In an attempt to evade justice, the suspect went into hiding in southern Ukraine in rented apartments, the addresses of which he changed regularly. “It has been established that the man left his residence only when absolutely necessary and had no contact with anyone most of the time,” the statement reads.
SBU officers tracked down the suspect and detained him in late May 2026. Prior to that, in 2025, he was notified in absentia of charges under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed under martial law). He is currently in custody, according to the State Bureau of Investigation (DBR) and the SBU.
