The SBU detained an FSB agent who was planning Russian attacks in the Cherkasy region
The Counterintelligence Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine has exposed and detained another suspected agent of Russia’s FSB in the Cherkasy region. According to the investigation, she was helping the enemy prepare new missile and drone attacks on the region.
Law enforcement officials determined that she was recruited to collaborate with Russian intelligence agencies through Telegram channels, where she was looking for a quick way to make money. On behalf of the FSB, she gathered information on the locations of Ukrainian military units and energy infrastructure facilities.
Upon identifying potential “targets,” she photographed them with geotags.
It has been established that the Russian intelligence service instructed its agent to conduct further reconnaissance near a power-generating facility that the enemy was preparing to strike again.
During the reconnaissance mission, the agent was tasked with assessing the facility’s technical condition following recent Russian airstrikes.
Based on the results of the step-by-step documentation of her espionage activities, SBU officers detained the suspect. A mobile phone and computer equipment containing evidence of her work for the enemy were seized from her.
Investigators from the Security Service informed the agent that she was suspected of violating Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed under martial law).
The suspect is being held in custody without the right to bail. She faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
Comprehensive investigative measures were carried out under the procedural supervision of the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
