Serhiy Stakhovsky was discharged from the Alpha Special Operations Center after more than four years of service

Serhiy Stakhovsky, Ukraine’s former top-ranked tennis player, has been discharged to the reserves from the “Alpha” Special Operations Center. The commander signed the order for his discharge on September 10.

According to Stakhovsky, he had officially served in “Alpha” in various capacities for the past 2.5 years. Prior to that, however, from the start of the full-scale invasion, he had been participating in the unit’s operations on a voluntary basis.

The athlete decided to leave the service for personal reasons. One of them was the need to devote more attention to his own business—Stakhovsky Wines, whose vineyards are located in Zakarpattia.

“The winery is struggling right now, so one of the reasons is that I can’t devote more attention to it. You can’t serve in the military and develop your private business at the same time. It’s not right,” Stakhovsky explained.

In the near future, the former tennis player plans to focus on developing his wine business.
