Shmyhal and Pistorius visited a damaged power facility in Kyiv
Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal, together with German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, visited one of the energy facilities in Kyiv that was damaged as a result of Russian attacks. Shmyhal emphasized Ukraine’s critical need for air defense systems and the missiles that go with them.
This was reported with reference to Shmyhal’s post on Telegram.
“I showed him the consequences of the strikes, which left thousands of people in Kyiv without heat. It was a deliberate attack during the harshest cold snap aimed at creating a humanitarian catastrophe. We briefed Mr. Pistorius on the progress of work to address the aftermath of the strikes and the construction of protective structures. This includes, in particular, the construction of concrete shelters for equipment and protection against drones,” the post reads.

At the same time, Shmyhal emphasized Ukraine’s critical need for air defense systems and missiles for them.

“This will help us more effectively shoot down ballistic and cruise missiles and better protect our energy sector from Russian terror. We are counting on support in this area. We thank Germany for the equipment already provided, which helped us successfully get through this winter,” the minister added.

Shmyhal discussed with the EBRD the deepening of cooperation and preparations for winter.
