The Swedish government has unveiled a new support package for Ukraine for 2026 worth approximately 240 million Swedish kronor ($25.7 million).
This was announced in a government press release.
Of this amount, 150 million kronor will be allocated to the Ukrainian Red Cross for humanitarian needs.
The main focus of the package is support for children. This includes:
- providing school meals in frontline areas;
- developing family-based care;
- supporting children’s mental health.
Swedish Minister for International Development and Trade Benjamin Dusa emphasized that the aid is an “investment in Ukraine’s future generation,” as the war has serious consequences for children.
According to UN estimates, over 10.8 million people in Ukraine are in need of humanitarian aid, and 3.7 million are internally displaced persons.
The Swedish government emphasizes that the situation remains difficult both in frontline communities and in major cities.
As a reminder, Sweden confirmed that the drone spying on a French aircraft carrier was of Russian origin.
Sweden also allows for the deployment of nuclear weapons on its territory in the event of war.
