Sibiga announced the opening of a new chapter in relations with Hungary

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga announced the start of a fundamentally new phase of diplomatic engagement with Hungary against the backdrop of Kyiv’s successful progress toward European Union membership.

Budapest, which had previously blocked Ukrainian European integration initiatives on multiple occasions, demonstrated a constructive stance during the latest rounds of negotiations.

The Ukrainian side noted unexpectedly positive shifts in the Hungarian counterparts’ approach to the joint agenda.

The Foreign Minister expressed hope that this precedent would lay a solid foundation for long-term improvement in bilateral relations between the two neighboring countries.

According to the official, the coordination of efforts opens up great prospects for stabilizing the entire region.

“I appreciate Hungary’s constructive cooperation. We are turning a new page in Ukrainian-Hungarian relations—one based on mutual respect, trust, and our shared European future. Ukraine is moving forward,” the minister emphasized.

In addition to reaching an understanding with Budapest, the head of the Foreign Ministry expressed deep gratitude to other European partners who consistently ensure Kyiv’s rapid progress.

He paid special attention to the leadership role of the Republic of Cyprus, which currently holds the presidency of the Council of the European Union. The official Cypriot delegation is actively helping to advance the Ukrainian issue on international platforms.

The head of Ukraine’s foreign ministry officially announced this on his page on social media platform X.

Hungary Offers to Serve as a Venue for Negotiations Between Ukraine and Russia

Hungary’s new Prime Minister, Péter Magyar, made high-profile statements regarding the situation of the Hungarian national minority in Ukraine and the European Union’s future economic relations with the Russian Federation.

The foreign ministers of Ukraine and Hungary, Andriy Sibiga and Anita Orbán, held their first in-person meeting on May 22. During the talks in Helsingborg, the parties agreed to hold a second round of expert-level consultations next week to further discuss bilateral issues.
