The son of a Hero of Ukraine was beaten by peers while playing TCC during a sports camp in Bulgaria
The Kyiv Police are investigating possible physical and psychological abuse against 10-year-old Tymofiy Sevriuk, the son of Hero of Ukraine Pavlo Sevriuk. The boy was attending a sports camp in Bulgaria as part of a group from the Kyiv sports school “RING.”
According to his mother, his peers repeatedly bullied her son during the trip. In particular, she said one incident occurred during quiet time, when the children were playing “TCK” and suffocated the boy with a pillow.
The mother learned about the situation not from Tymofiy himself, but from another woman. She said the boy hadn’t told his parents anything about what had happened during the camp.
After returning home, the child, according to his mother, began exhibiting a nervous tic and panic attacks. The boy is currently seeing a psychologist and a neurologist.
After the family filed a complaint, Kyiv law enforcement officials entered the case into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations under Part 1 of Article 137 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—failure to properly fulfill duties regarding the protection of children’s lives and health. Police are investigating all the circumstances, interviewing witnesses and bystanders, and reviewing the actions of the coaches and chaperones responsible for the children’s safety.
Journalists also spoke with the mother of another student at the same sports school. According to her, her son, who has epilepsy and atypical autism, was also subjected to bullying and beatings by other children. As a result, the parents withdrew the boy from the school.
