The Boryspil Airport Case: Appeals Court Reduces Sentences for Former Management
The Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court reduced the sentences of the former head of Boryspil Airport and the head of the lease relations department in a case involving abuse of office.
The court partially upheld the defense’s appeals and amended the verdict regarding the sentence, civil claim, and procedural costs.
The former airport director’s prison term was reduced from 5 to 4 years, and his accomplice’s from 4 to 3 years.
At the same time, the court ordered both defendants to jointly pay over 1.33 million UAH in damages to the State Property Fund, as well as court costs to the state.
Other claims in the appeals were dismissed.
The decision has already taken legal effect and may be appealed to the Supreme Court.
The case was initiated due to the illegal leasing of state property—specifically, the conclusion of preliminary agreements without a competitive bidding process and at below-market rates.
Earlier, media outlets reported that Wizz Air intends to resume flights to Ukraine within six weeks of any ceasefire.
Europe’s largest airline, Ryanair, also plans to resume flights to Ukraine. This has become possible amid growing hopes that Donald Trump will be able to help end the war with Russia.
