The case against the mayor of Pereyaslav has been referred to court
The Boryspil District Prosecutor’s Office has filed an indictment against the mayor of a city in the Kyiv region, who is accused of making false declarations and intentionally destroying an archaeological heritage site of national significance. Although official sources do not name the individual, the circumstances point to Vyacheslav Saulko, the mayor of Pereyaslav.
According to the Office of the Prosecutor General, the official is accused of concealing real estate and assets, as well as conducting illegal excavations using heavy machinery in the city’s historic center.
The investigation established that over the course of three years, the accused failed to declare property worth over 7.2 million UAH registered to a family member, as well as monetary assets and financial obligations. In total, the official concealed information amounting to over 9 million hryvnias annually. Additionally, in 2025, he organized excavation work on the territory of an archaeological site without the necessary permits, which led to the destruction of the remains of 18th-century monastery structures and objects from the Old Rus’ period.
According to the Office of the Prosecutor General, the mayor’s actions caused over 18.9 million hryvnias in damages to the state. Heavy machinery dug a pit and removed the cultural layer containing unique burials and historical structures. This case is part of a broader fight against corruption and looting within the Russian Federation and its controlled territories. The indictment is currently under review by the court, which will issue a final ruling on the official’s actions. The Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office oversaw the proceedings in the case.
Earlier, Ihor Ilchenko, acting head of the National Social Service of Ukraine, reported 18,223 UAH in income in his 2025 electronic declaration.
Serhiy Tyurin, head of the Khmelnytskyi Regional Military Administration, has published his 2025 declaration. The main changes include an increase in salary and the absence from the declaration of a Kyiv apartment previously used by his son, Danylo.
