The case involving an underground dollar printing operation in the Kyiv region has been referred to court

Prosecutors from the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Defense Affairs in the Central Region have filed an indictment against a member of a group that produced counterfeit $100 bills.

The agency’s press service reported this on March 23, 2026, noting that three accomplices had set up a full-scale banknote production operation in a private home. The organizers created digital templates themselves, purchased special equipment, and imitated security features on paper.

The investigation established that between May and June 2025, the perpetrators managed to print counterfeit currency totaling approximately $11,000. The illegal operation was uncovered last June during large-scale raids, during which law enforcement seized the finished counterfeit bills and printers. The defendant faces 5 to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property, while the investigation into other members of the group is currently ongoing.

The exposure of these financial fraudsters comes amid the stabilization of the National Bank of Ukraine’s official dollar exchange rate at 43.82 hryvnia. While law enforcement combats internal threats, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) reports that a Russian military intelligence agent has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for attempting to steal data on the “Oplot” tank. Meanwhile, Ukraine is strengthening digital security by warning citizens about hostile recruitment methods via SMS, while the Netherlands is preparing drone units to support NATO’s collective defense.

As a reminder, a developer who defrauded investors of over $2 million will face trial in Bukovina.

Also, a pensioner will face trial in Kyiv for employment fraud involving the prosecutor’s office.
