The Kyiv police have referred the case of a propagandist advocating for the restoration of the USSR to court

Kyiv law enforcement officials have concluded their investigation and filed an indictment against an active member of a neo-communist cell.

This was reported by the Kyiv Police.

A 47-year-old resident of Ivano-Frankivsk was engaged in promoting Soviet ideology and widely disseminated banned symbols of the totalitarian regime via digital platforms.

According to the investigation, the defendant was part of the so-called “Organizing Committee of the Ukrainian SSR”—a group whose goal was to promote communism in modern Ukraine.

The man now faces severe punishment—up to 10 years in prison with or without confiscation of property.

Investigators from the Kyiv City Police Department, in collaboration with the SBU, uncovered this network late last year. The group consisted of four people: three residents of western regions and one woman from Kyiv.

The perpetrators not only administered thematic Telegram channels but also actively produced printed and other materials featuring Soviet-era symbols.

The group’s main strategy was to recruit new supporters through social media.

In special chat rooms, the suspects promoted the idea of “reviving the Soviet Union,” which, in the context of a full-scale war, constitutes a direct threat to Ukraine’s state sovereignty and national security.

During a series of searches at the suspects’ residences, law enforcement officers seized irrefutable evidence of their illegal activities.

In particular, a large quantity of materials featuring the hammer and sickle was found, as well as computer equipment and mobile phones used to manage propaganda resources.

Currently, the 47-year-old man from Ivano-Frankivsk has become the first member of the group whose case has officially reached trial.

He is charged with violating Part 2 of Article 436-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for liability for the manufacture and distribution of communist symbols by members of organized groups.

In Odesa, 8 TCC employees were detained following a shooting

In Dnipro, a man was fined for assaulting a TCS representative

Earlier in Lutsk, teenagers attacked military personnel from the territorial recruitment center while they were checking the documents of conscripts.
