Scholarships for students in Ukraine will be increased starting September 1
Starting September 1, 2026, new, increased amounts for academic and merit-based scholarships for students at institutions of higher education and pre-higher vocational education will take effect in Ukraine.
The 2026 state budget allocates 6.6 billion hryvnias for scholarship payments, which is 1.2 billion hryvnias more than last year.
The Ministry of Finance of Ukraine reported that the increased funding will allow for higher amounts for both academic and named scholarships for students.
The new payment amounts will take effect on September 1, 2026, that is, at the start of the new academic year.
The government will announce the specific amounts of the updated scholarships for university and college students separately.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy approved the payment of scholarships to the children of journalists who died while performing their professional duties.
In Ukraine, a significant increase in payments for students receiving state scholarships is planned starting September 1, 2026—the amount will approximately double.
