The court extended Trukhanov's duties until August 1
A panel of judges at the High Anti-Corruption Court has extended the term of office for the former mayor of Odesa through August 1, 2026.
The High Anti-Corruption Court announced this on Telegram
“The panel of judges of the High Anti-Corruption Court has extended the term of the procedural obligations imposed on the former mayor of Odesa until August 1, 2026, inclusive,” the statement reads.
As explained by the High Anti-Corruption Court, the defendant is required to:
- appear whenever summoned by the court;
- not leave Odesa or the Odesa region without the court’s permission;
- notify the court of any change of residence;
- refrain from communicating with specified individuals;
- surrender documents for departure from and entry into Ukraine;
- wear an electronic monitoring device.
If Trukhanov fails to comply with these obligations, a stricter preventive measure may be imposed on him or a financial penalty may be levied.
The former mayor of Odesa is accused of committing criminal offenses under Part 1 of Article 255, Part 4 of Article 28, and Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
On October 6, 2021, then-Prosecutor General Iryna Venediktova signed a notice of suspicion against Odessa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov and a number of city officials and businessmen as part of an investigation into the illegal seizure of land belonging to the Odessa territorial community worth 689 million hryvnias and the legalization of illegally obtained income.
On January 21, the Pecherskyi District Court of Kyiv released former Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov from round-the-clock house arrest, changing the preventive measure to a personal commitment.
Earlier, the Kyiv Court of Appeals upheld the preventive measure against former Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov in a case involving official negligence that resulted in the deaths of nine people.
