The court sentenced the traitor Serhiy Yeliseyev in absentia to 15 years in prison
The Primorsky District Court of Odessa sentenced Serhiy Yeliseyev, the former first deputy commander of the Ukrainian Navy, in absentia to 15 years in prison and stripped him of his military rank of vice admiral.
At the start of the Russian occupation of the Crimean Peninsula in 2014, the former high-ranking official betrayed his oath and defected to the enemy.
The verdict was handed down on June 8, 2026, following a public indictment by prosecutors from the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for the Southern Region in the field of defense.
The court found the former officer guilty of high treason, desertion, violating Ukraine’s territorial integrity, participating in a terrorist organization, and waging an aggressive war.
In early spring 2014, the defendant was effectively serving as commander of the Ukrainian Navy.
However, he deliberately refused to carry out orders from the state’s senior leadership and facilitated the Russian Federation’s military takeover of Crimea.
Prosecutors fully proved that the defendant’s criminal actions helped the aggressor’s forces undermine our country’s defense capabilities and seize Ukrainian warships.
After defecting to the Russian Federation in July 2014, the traitor was appointed deputy commander of the Russian Baltic Fleet. In this position, the former Ukrainian military officer was responsible for the combat training of the occupiers’ personnel.
This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
