Holiday on June 18: Community Police Officer Day in Ukraine

The official holiday was established by an order of the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine back in 2004.

Historical records show that on June 18, 1923, by order of the People’s Commissar of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Ukrainian SSR, the district inspector service was established in Ukraine.
That is why this profession is considered one of the oldest in the country’s overall system of modern law enforcement agencies.
The daily professional activities of a district police officer are traditionally associated with numerous difficulties, challenges, and immediate dangers.
They work around the clock to prevent petty theft, deter administrative violations, and promptly solve various crimes.
Thousands of ordinary citizens regularly turn to these officers, and a number of important court decisions depend on their professional actions.
