Laura Lumer visited the renovated substation in the Kyiv region

Laura Lummer, an American conservative blogger and activist with close ties to Donald Trump, visited a DTEK power substation in the Kyiv region during her trip to Ukraine. 

The facility, which was destroyed by a Russian missile strike in 2022, was fully restored and modernized thanks to financial and technical support from the U.S. government. Today, this substation once again provides electricity and heat to about 20,000 Ukrainian families.

SCM Communications Director Natalia Yemchenko noted that during the visit, the American guest was shown the challenging and dangerous conditions under which Ukrainian energy workers operate on a daily basis. In addition, Lumer familiarized herself with promising reconstruction projects, including the construction of the first digital distribution substation. This innovative facility is being built during the war using equipment from the leading American manufacturer GE Vernova. Representatives of the energy company expressed their gratitude to the influencer for her personal visit and for the opportunity to convey the truth about the consequences of Russian terror against Ukrainian infrastructure to an American audience.

As a reminder, American blogger and ally of U.S. President Donald Trump, Laura Lummer, stated that she had changed her attitude toward Russia’s war against Ukraine after visiting the country. According to her, she had previously spread false claims while under the influence of Russian propaganda.

The Office of the President stated that American blogger Laura Lummer’s visit to Ukraine was yet another example of how firsthand exposure to the realities of war helps change perspectives and break free from the influence of Russian propaganda. The blogger had previously publicly acknowledged that she had been mistaken in her assessments of Ukraine.
