A fight broke out in the Lviv region over Russian-language music

On July 25 in the Lviv region, a conflict broke out between two groups of vacationers over the playing of songs in Russian. The incident gained widespread attention after posts on social media.

According to witnesses, a group of teenagers aged 15–18 who were celebrating a birthday asked a neighboring group of adults to turn off the Russian-language tracks. In response, the vacationers refused to do so, stating that they were internally displaced persons from Donetsk and had “grown up speaking this language.” 

One of the women began insulting the teenagers, claiming that the war “started because of Western Ukraine,” and also mentioned the events of the Maidan. Eyewitnesses report that the argument escalated into a physical altercation involving the teenagers.

Law enforcement officials have already identified all those involved in the incident. Currently, the Lviv Regional Police are conducting an investigation to determine the legal classification of the incident.
