Three businessmen will stand trial for attempting to sell a Rosatom building in Kyiv

Law enforcement officials have notified three men that they are under suspicion; according to the investigation, they attempted to illegally sell a building in the Podil district of Kyiv that belonged to a company within the Russian corporation “Rosatom.” Despite the property being under seizure, the suspects were preparing a deal to launder assets obtained through criminal means. The case has been referred to court.

According to law enforcement officials, a Russian nuclear fuel manufacturer—a joint-stock company directly subordinate to the “Rosatom” corporation—owned the building in Podil. Information regarding ownership of the building was not entered into the State Register of Real Property Rights but was recorded only in the documents of the Kyiv City Bureau of Technical Inventory and Registration of Property Rights.

In 2022, the building, valued at 55,789,000 UAH, was seized. Despite this, the perpetrators attempted to sell the property.

“…three individuals were involved in the illegal activity: the organizer—a resident of the Kyiv region nicknamed ‘the General,’ his son, acting as an accomplice, and another mutual acquaintance, acting as a co-perpetrator, who, after illegally seizing the building, attempted to sell it on the real estate market. For this, all three men have been notified of their status as suspects under Part 1 of Article 14 and Part 3 of Article 209 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine,” the National Police reported.

The pretrial investigation in the criminal proceedings has been completed. The indictment against the three members of the organized group has been sent to court for a trial on the merits of the case, according to the National Police

As a reminder, the prosecutor’s office secured the return to state ownership of more than 2,100 hectares of defense land in the Zhytomyr region, valued at over 4.2 billion hryvnias. Previously, these plots had been transferred to a public organization for 25 years for the purpose of managing a hunting reserve.

In the Khmelnytskyi region, a lawyer and two officials illegally appropriated communal land.
