The Czech Republic has criticized the far-right's call to strip Zelenskyy of his medal

Jana Černochová, former Czech Minister of Defense and member of the Chamber of Deputies, called the far-right SPD party’s initiative to strip Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of the Order of the White Lion unfounded and shameful.

According to her, Zelenskyy deserves this award because he has been leading a country that has been resisting a full-scale Russian invasion for three years now. Černochová also expressed confidence that such a proposal would find no support either in parliament or with the Czech president.

The lawmaker accused SPD Chairman Tomio Okamura of stoking anti-Ukrainian sentiment in Czech society and stated that such initiatives only deepen hatred toward Ukrainians.

The Czech right-wing populist party SPD announced that it will seek to strip Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of the Czech Republic’s highest state award—the Order of the White Lion.

The decision to revoke Poland’s highest state award, the Order of the White Eagle, from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is not a unilateral act by the president. Under Polish procedure, the president may initiate the revocation of an award, but the corresponding act requires the countersignature (co-signature) of the Polish prime minister.
