A court in Dnipro has remanded a suspect in custody for the murder and rape of an 11-year-old boy
On May 29 in Dnipro, a suspect in the rape and murder of an 11-year-old boy was ordered to be held in custody pending investigation.
This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
At the request of Valery Prykhozhanov, head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the court ordered the 40-year-old suspect in the rape and murder of an 11-year-old boy to be held in custody without the right to bail.
His actions are classified as the intentional murder of a minor, combined with rape, committed by a person who had previously committed intentional murder, as well as the commission of sexual acts.
On May 27, in an abandoned house, the suspect punched the boy in the face to prevent him from resisting. When the child fell, he tied his hands, raped the boy, and suffocated him by placing a plastic bag over his head.
It has been preliminarily established that the child was not well acquainted with the suspect—they had spoken to each other only a few times previously.
The suspect had already been convicted of similar crimes. Specifically, in 2010, he was found guilty by a court verdict under Part 3 of Article 15, subparagraphs 2, 9, and 13 of Part 2 of Article 115, Part 4 of Article 152, and Part 3 of Article 153 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Earlier, the court imposed pretrial detention as a preventive measure for two residents of the Chernivtsi district suspected of murdering a 21-year-old woman.
A Kyiv court sentenced a Kyiv resident who fatally stabbed his friend with a knife during a party. According to police, the conflict between the men arose from a dispute over loud music. The court, having considered the evidence from the investigation, handed down a sentence of 11 years in prison.
