Two orphaned bear cubs were rescued in the Carpathians and taken to a rehabilitation center

On June 22, in the Carpathians, a couple found and rescued two small bear cubs who had been left without their mother. The animals were taken to the brown bear rehabilitation center in Synevyr National Nature Park, where they will receive care and rehabilitation under the supervision of specialists.

While walking through the forest, Roman and Anya heard a pitiful squeak and discovered two bear cubs sitting high up in the trees. Fearing they might encounter the mother bear, they left the area, but the next day, Roman returned to check on the cubs.

For two days, Roman watched over the cubs, hoping their mother would return. However, she did not. On the third day, seeing that the cubs were exhausted and hungry, he took them home, fed them, and contacted the Brown Bear Rehabilitation Center at the Synevyr National Nature Park.

The center’s specialists quickly organized the animals’ transport. The center’s director, Yaroslav Bundzyak, and veterinarian Yuriy Masley joined the rescue mission.

According to the veterinarians, the cubs’ condition is considered stable following the transport. Although the trip was stressful for them, the cubs are generally doing well.

“The cubs are a little anxious, which is completely natural in such a situation, but overall their condition is satisfactory,” commented veterinarian Yuriy Masley.

Now the cubs will undergo a period of acclimatization, receive special care, and be fed a proper diet at the rehabilitation center, where they will be able to grow up healthy and prepare for life in the wild.
