Lesya Ukrainka was honored in Kovel

In Kovel, representatives of the city government and the public laid flowers at the monument to Lesya Ukrainka. The event took place on August 1, marking the 113th anniversary of the death of the outstanding Ukrainian poet, writer, and cultural figure. Participants honored the memory of a woman whose words have become a symbol of strength of spirit, love for Ukraine, and the struggle for freedom.

 

City officials and concerned residents gathered at the Lesya Ukrainka monument in Kovel to pay tribute to one of the most prominent figures in Ukrainian culture. Those present laid flowers at the base of the monument and reflected on the creative journey of the poet, who left behind a vast literary legacy.

Lesya Ukrainka wrote over 270 poems, as well as plays, prose works, and journalistic articles, and she also translated world classics. Her work remains important to Ukrainians to this day. In her works, the writer spoke of freedom, resilience, struggle, and the strength of the human spirit. “Her words live on in us. Her spirit lives in everyone who fights for freedom,” attendees noted during the event.

 

In Kovel, organizers emphasized that Lesya Ukrainka’s work is particularly relevant in these challenging times. Her poetry offers support, inspiration, and a reminder of the importance of preserving Ukrainian identity. “The memory of Lesya Ukrainka will forever remain in the hearts of Ukrainians,” noted the participants in the commemoration. Her works continue to resonate, and her ideas about freedom and the strength of the Ukrainian people remain an important part of Ukraine’s cultural heritage.
