In Crimea, the occupying authorities have suspended nighttime train service to Simferopol

In the temporarily occupied Crimea, Russian authorities are imposing new restrictions on rail service. The so-called “head” of Crimea, Sergey Aksyonov, announced the suspension of nighttime passenger train service to Simferopol, effective June 10.

Under the new rules, rail traffic into Simferopol will be permitted only from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

The restrictions apply to long-distance trains running between Russia and the occupied peninsula.

According to the occupation administration, eight trains will continue to run during daylight hours, while six night trains will terminate their routes at the Kerch-Pivdenna station. From there, passengers will be transported to their destinations by bus.

Aksyonov did not provide any official explanation for this decision. At the same time, the day before, he claimed there had been a drone attack on a Moscow–Simferopol train, which, according to him, killed the assistant engineer.

In recent weeks, the occupied peninsula has been experiencing serious logistics and fuel shortages. At the end of May, the fuel crisis in Crimea intensified, leading to restrictions on gasoline sales at some gas stations.

In addition, according to Russian sources, the flow of tourists to Crimea continues to decline. It is reported that the number of hotel bookings for the 2026 season has decreased by 31% compared to last year.

Problems with transportation and fuel are already creating difficulties for both local residents and tourists on the occupied peninsula.

As a reminder, the shortage of automotive fuel, which was previously observed in the temporarily occupied Crimea, has begun to spread to the southern regions of the Russian Federation. Residents of the Krasnodar Krai and the Rostov Oblast are reporting shortages of gasoline and diesel fuel.
