In Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, people are discussing the behavior of a teacher at a private special-needs preschool who allegedly led children on a leash, yanked them by the arms, and treated them roughly. A video filmed at the facility at 29 Myru Avenue has gone viral and sparked a flurry of discussion.
According to the teacher, an air raid siren had sounded in the city, and the children needed to go to lunch, so it was impossible to keep all the children together in an orderly manner. The woman explained that she pulled one child out of the sandbox and fell into the sand herself, and then tried to catch up with another girl.
She noted: “In all the time I’ve been working with children, I’ve never hit anyone… People are writing comments like that… I haven’t hit anyone. I treat every child with love.” As for the “leashes,” these are special elastic bands that are put on children’s wrists to keep them from running off. The woman admitted her guilt and acknowledged her unprofessional behavior, after which she was suspended from work.
The kindergarten director confirmed that an internal investigation was underway and stated: “I’m just as shocked by the situation I saw on social media as you are.” At the same time, the preschool director added: “But you know, it’s not as black and white as people are making it out to be in the comments. You saw it yourselves… Well, she (the teacher) did pull the child’s arm. But she wasn’t hitting the child. Let’s not exaggerate a little bit. She has already apologized both on social media and in our chat group. But it’s also unfair to drag us through the mud like this.”
In addition, the director noted that the employee has been officially working for them almost since the facility opened last year and has a college degree in education, although she does not have a specific qualification for working with children with special needs. After the incident gained publicity, juvenile police officers arrived at the scene to investigate the circumstances.
