In Lviv, a former customs officer will stand trial for the murder of a military intelligence officer during a document check
Prosecutors from the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office have filed a case in court against a 34-year-old former inspector of the Lviv Customs Office, who is accused of the intentional murder of a 52-year-old serviceman from the Galician-Frankivsk Regional Operational-Territorial Center for Combating Organized Crime and Special Operations during public awareness events.
The tragedy occurred in early April in Lviv near Paton Street, where military personnel, together with police officers, were checking documents. According to the investigation, during an altercation, the man—who was still a customs officer at the time—caught up with a soldier who was trying to stop his 28-year-old brother and fatally stabbed him in the neck after the soldier’s bulletproof vest blocked blows to the chest.
The accused fled the scene with his brother in a car, but law enforcement officers quickly apprehended him, and he is currently in custody.
This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
An employee of the Territorial Recruitment and Support Center died tragically in Lviv. The incident occurred during mobilization activities on Paton and Vyhovsky Streets.
The National Police clarified that prior to the attack, the military personnel at the recruitment center did not detain the assailant—he approached the soldier on his own and stabbed him in the neck.
