An outbreak of salmonellosis occurred at a preschool in Lviv due to undercooked chicken breast
A mass food poisoning outbreak caused by salmonella has been reported at a preschool in Lviv. A total of 22 people fell ill, including 18 preschoolers, two staff members, and two adults who had been in contact with them.
This was reported by the Lviv Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
Epidemiologists determined that the likely cause of the outbreak was a dish made with undercooked chicken breast. Currently, 19 patients are receiving inpatient treatment, two are being treated at home, and four have already been discharged from the hospital. Medical professionals are monitoring the patients’ condition, and necessary disinfection measures are being carried out at the facility.
Following the incident, law enforcement authorities opened a criminal investigation into violations of sanitary rules and regulations. Those responsible face penalties ranging from a fine to imprisonment for up to three years. Police and health authorities are continuing to inspect compliance with food preparation protocols in the kindergarten’s kitchen.
On July 18, 2025, 70 people, including 9 children, were hospitalized following food poisoning at the Lviv restaurant “Chinese Hello.” All victims exhibit symptoms of acute intestinal infection, including fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain.
Restaurant owner Misha Katsurin, who confirmed that he and his guests had been poisoned, promised to cover the medical expenses for all those affected. The police opened a criminal investigation into violations of sanitary standards that led to the mass poisoning.
Following the mass food poisoning at Mykhailo Katsurin’s “Chinese Greeting” restaurant in Lviv, medical professionals diagnosed 45 people with salmonellosis. They had all eaten the same dessert.
