Lviv has opened its first municipal facility for people with disabilities

Ukraine's first municipal assisted living facility for people with disabilities has opened in Lviv.

This was reported by hromadske.

The facility is located on Pasichna Street and can accommodate up to 20 people. It was created as an alternative to residential care facilities—with conditions as close to home as possible.

The facility features living quarters, common areas, a kitchen, and a terrace. Residents are involved in daily activities, and the facility organizes outings, leisure activities, and integration into community life.

Two main services will be provided here.

The first is temporary housing (respite care), where people with disabilities are taken in for up to 30 days a year so their relatives can rest. During this time, full care and activities are provided.

The second is permanent supported housing for people who have lost their caregivers or are at risk. This involves the opportunity to live independently but with the necessary support.

The city council emphasizes that the main goal is not isolation, but the full integration of people into society and decent living conditions.

From now on, people with disabilities can purchase train tickets from a special allocation via the Ukrzaliznytsia (UZ) mobile app, avoiding lines at ticket counters. Previously, passengers had to come to the station in person to book such a trip, which caused significant inconvenience.
