A 35-year-old man was arrested in Lviv for selling drugs worth 1 million hryvnias

The Security Service of Ukraine, in cooperation with police, detained 35-year-old Nazar Samolyuk in Lviv; he is suspected of trafficking cocaine and MDMA (ecstasy). According to the investigation, the man sold drugs worth nearly 1 million hryvnias. He had previously been detained for involvement in drug trafficking.

As reported on Tuesday, September 29, by the SBU and the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the 35-year-old Lviv resident had established a scheme for the illegal sale of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances within the city. Law enforcement officers documented three instances of the “hand-to-hand” sale of prohibited substances.

The investigation established that in May of this year, he sold nearly 35 grams of cocaine (based on “pure” substance weight) for $5,000. In June, he sold 150 ecstasy tablets with a total weight of 21.6 grams for nearly 40,000 hryvnias. At the end of September, the man sold cocaine again, this time in particularly large quantities. He received $15,300 for the shipment.

“In total, the sale of over 220 grams of cocaine and ecstasy, worth nearly 1 million hryvnias, has been documented,” the prosecutor’s office said in a statement.

During searches, authorities seized $15,300 from the suspect—proceeds from drug sales—along with a revolver and a white powdery substance. A rapid test confirmed the presence of cocaine in the substance.

In addition, at the suspect’s residence and in the vehicle he was using, law enforcement officers discovered: laptops containing records of illegal activities, bags of cannabis, plastic bags used for packaging drugs, and a substantial arsenal of bladed weapons.

The detainee was notified that he is suspected of trafficking narcotics on an especially large scale (Part 3 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Law enforcement officials are not disclosing further details. The suspect is 35-year-old Nazar Samolyuk, who was previously detained in 2021 for a similar crime. The case is pending in court. The court has currently ordered that he be held in custody without the right to bail.

This was reported by the Lviv Regional Police.
