A suspect in the knife attack on a military personnel member was detained in Lviv
Law enforcement officers in Lviv have detained a man suspected of stabbing a member of the Territorial Defense Forces (TDF) who was part of an alert team. According to the investigation, the incident occurred in late May, when the victim sustained a wound to his shoulder.
“Investigators from Police Department No. 1 of the Lviv District Police Administration No. 1, under the procedural guidance of the Halych District Prosecutor’s Office, informed the detainee of his suspicion of committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 350 (Threats or violence against a public official or a citizen performing a public duty) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine,” the statement reads.
The police noted that on May 29, at approximately 12:10 p.m. on Khvylovy Street, an unknown man stabbed a TCC serviceman who was part of an alert team, after which he fled. Medical personnel diagnosed the injured man with a stab wound to the shoulder.
Police identified the suspect and his whereabouts; he turned out to be a 29-year-old resident of Lviv. The attacker was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
The penalty under this article provides for restriction of liberty for a term of three to five years or imprisonment for the same term.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
